We are committed to ensuring every student at St Joseph’s Woodburn receives the support they need to develop strong literacy skills. Based on the recent InitiaLit and SpellEx testing assessments conducted in 2024, we have formed Literacy Teams across the school to ensure every child is participating in a program tailored to their individual learning needs.  

Both Initialit and SpellEx will provide focused instruction to help strengthen key literacy skills, such as phonics, reading fluency, comprehension, and writing.

Our dedicated team of educators will work closely with your child during small-group sessions, using evidence-based strategies to enhance their literacy development. This support across the school is designed to complement the classroom learning and ensure students have the foundational skills necessary for continued success.

We will monitor your child's progress regularly and keep you informed along the way. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s participation in the Literacy Teams, please feel free to contact your classroom teacher.
