Principal's Message - Felicity Wilde

Dear Families,

We have had another wonderful two weeks at St Joeys, filled with Learning, Love and Laughter.

Superstar Learners

At St Joseph's, we believe that all children should have the opportunity to learn to a high level, and it is our job to work with families to support all students to achieve our high expectations.

We know that when a child feels successful in learning, they’re more likely to take risks, ask questions, and engage in class activities. This leads to not only academic improvement but also stronger social skills, greater resilience, and a more positive attitude toward school.

We would like to celebrate our Superstar learners this week. These students aren't necessarily superstars because they are achieving the highest level, but because they show determination, resilience and a positive attitude toward learning. These are the skills that will continue to support them as learners as they move through their schooling.

Our Superstar learners this week are

Asher Pursey, who is learning to; leave spaces between his words, write from left to right, stretch out his words and reread his writing.

Roy Bennett has been a superstar in explaining what adjectives are and has been using adjectives in his writing to make it more descriptive

Kayde Donnelly shows incredible dedication during his InitiaLit spelling lessons. He approaches every spelling challenge with enthusiasm, focus, and a fantastic growth mindset.

Ilaria Morgan has shown determination and focus in using amazing tier 2 vocabulary to strengthen her writing.

Jake Cutler uses strong vocabulary (tier 2 and 3 vocabulary) and language devices like metaphor and imagery to bring the setting to life

Community Fair

We are very excited to announce that we have locked in a date for our Community Fair for 2025. It will be held on Friday, 22nd August.
We now need an "all hands on deck" approach to make sure this is one of our biggest and best fairs to celebrate our return to Woodburn.

If you are able to help out with the organisation of our fair, please join our Community Fair Committee. We are meeting on Monday, 16th June at 4 pm at school to begin the planning process.

If you have a business that would like to sponsor our fair, please contact the school, as we can only make this happen with sponsorship and parent support.

Music Tuition- Google Form

If you are interested in enrolling your child into instrumental music tuition through Music Corp at our school, and haven't yet done so, please complete this Google Form Expression of Interest.

We need 20 students to run the program, and we are getting close. Music Corp is going to run a showcase for our students,s outlining all the instruments they have on offer in the coming weeks.

Bentley Art Prize

This year, it is the 40th Anniversary of Reg and Phyllis Hartley’s vision to encourage the creativity of our young people and give them the opportunity to show their work to the wider community, and all students are invited to share their artistic skills with the wider community at the Bentley Art Prize.

We have attached the entry form for any students who wish to take part.
Completed entry forms need to be returned by Friday, 11th July, either by email or post.
Please add a separate sheet to list students names and title of work if necessary.

Artwork needs to be ready to hang and be delivered to the Bentley Public Hall on Thursday 31st July between 9am – 4pm or Friday 1st August between 8am – 9am.
