RELIGIOUS MATTERS- Mrs Megan Boyd

SUNDAY GOSPEL REFLECTION

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
Gospel Reading
Mark 14:12-16,22-26
Jesus shares his Last Supper with his disciples

Corpus_christi.PNG

Jesus took bread, blessed the bread, broke the bread, and shared it with his disciples. Similar words and actions follow as Jesus shares the chalice with his disciples. The Gospel for today reminds us that the Eucharist is a memorial of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. We believe that Jesus is truly present to us in the elements of bread and wine and that the Eucharist nourishes us so that we can be people of love and forgiveness.

CELEBRATING 200 Years of Catholic Education in Australia

This term all our students have been participating in activities that celebrate and reflect upon the contribution Catholic Education has made to our nation. Stage two students wrote letters to the Sisters of St Joseph at North Sydney and Penola (where St Mary of the Cross MacKillop started her first school) to thank them for their contribution and dedication to educating young Australians.

We have received two beautiful cards and donations of books from the Sisters of St Joseph to thank us for the student's letters. Sister Monica Cavanagh and Sister Loreta acknowledged and praised the children's thoughts and efforts with their cards and letters. We appreciated receiving the Sister's generosity, words of wisdom and best wishes.
Sister Monica wrote," Congratulations on all the ways you have celebrated Catholic Schools Week. Through these activities, you have shown how you have lived the values of Jesus and Mary MacKillop."
The books " Saint Mary Mackillop - Friend of Jesus", "Bob's The Dog," and "Horse Tales of Mary MacKillop" will be added to our school library

MAKING JESUS REAL - (MJR)

At St Joseph’s Woodburn we encourage our students to “Make Jesus Real’” by the way they act in our school community and while at home and out in the community

MJR at St Joseph’s Woodburn encourages our students to be WEST people - that is WELCOMING, ENCOURAGING, SAY SORRY when needed and be THANKFUL.
