Principals Message

Dear Families

Welcome to Term 4, I hope you had an enjoyable break with your children.
It was a pleasure to welcome our children back on Tuesday morning, with their enthusiasm, energy and joy. We are hoping for a more normal Term 4. The latest Covid information can be found below however please be aware that this can change very quickly. Please keep an eye out for notifications via Compass and Facebook.

JUNIOR JOEYS IS BACK!

We are so pleased to announce that we can now commence orientation and transition to school for Kindergarten 2022. However, we need to remain flexible and responsive to the emerging COVID 19 guidelines.

The Junior Joeys 2021 Transition Program will be run on Wednesday mornings, beginning Wednesday 13 October 2021 from 9.15 am until 11 am, and continue for 4 consecutive Wednesday mornings. The last session will be held on 3 November 2021.
During the 4 visits, preschoolers will become familiar with the following:

  • School boundaries
  • jj.png School and class routines
  •  Outside play skills
  •  Play as part of the curriculum
  •  Working as part of the class
  •  School values and classroom expectations
  •  Class teachers and class learning environment, including outdoor learning areas.

With the current COVID-19 guidelines in place, we ask that parents sign their child in outside the Library each Wednesday morning. Parents will need to tick that the children attending are well and free from any flu-like symptoms.   The children will clean their hands with sanitiser and then be taught our COVID safety strategies as the day progresses.

We are so excited to finally be able to welcome our Kindergarten 2022 students to our beautiful school.

BOOK FAIR AND BOOK PARADE

Due to the changes that came about under COVID regulations, we were unable
to hold our Book Fair and Book Character Parade at the usual time this year. We will instead be celebrating Book Fair in weeks 3 and 4 of this term. Our much loved Book Character Parade will be held on Friday 22 October 2021. Unfortunately with the current  COVID 19 restrictions, parents will not be allowed to attend the parade. We will keep you updated on the arrival of our Book Fair, in the coming weeks.

Correct School Uniform

All students are expected to have the correct full school uniform and to take pride in it. The uniform is a symbol of the school and what it stands for. When worn correctly it will help students identify with the school and develop a sense of pride in self and
the school.
We currently have students coming to school wearing shoes, socks, jewellery and nail polish that are not in keeping with our school uniform.

The correct St Joseph's uniform is listed in the parent handbook that can be found on our school website.
Over the next few weeks, we will be focussing on the importance of taking pride and respecting our school uniform. I appreciate your support of the school's expectations in this matter.

COVID 19

The latest information:
We have returned to Term 4 under Level 3 restrictions. Under these restrictions, the wearing of masks is recommended for primary students.
Unfortunately, under Level 3 restrictions, parents are still unable to be onsite.
Canteen will be open on Monday and Wednesday if we have volunteers.

The Lismore LGA, Casino township and Kyogle LGA are all under lockdown and stay at home orders at present. This impacts you if you either live or have travelled to those areas recently.
Please follow these restrictions carefully.

I ask you to keep in your thoughts and prayers those who may be unwell at this time and all involved in responding to the COVID-19 situation. Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we navigate this evolving situation.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

IN WEEK 1 OF TERM 4 WE ARE TRULY GRATEFUL FOR:

  • Our students and staff for a terrific start to the term
  • The fact that we are at school together.
  • Everyone working together to keep us safe.
  • Junior Joeys are back!
  • Our Health Care Workers.

As we begin our final term for 2021 we are aware of the
many events and activities that will keep us busy and focussed
(COVID adapted)- lots of learning, Junior Joeys,  Exuro, assessments, reports, the swimming carnival (if permitted), School Captains and Leaders elections for 2022,
Advent, Masses and Liturgies, Year 6 Graduation and the list goes on. Before we know it, we will be at the end of another year and saying goodbye to Year 6 2021. What a wonderful term we have ahead!

Regards
