Principals Message

Dear Families,

This Sunday we celebrate Mother’s Day - a very special day when we say thank you to our MUMS for everything that they have done and continue to do for us.
For some of us, it is a time of remembering the past and for others, it is a time to celebrate the future. Mums are the precious treasure troves that remain an important part of our life ALWAYS.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our mums, grandmothers and the women who play a special part in our life. We hope you have a very special day.

God bless Mothers who are guiding lights.

God bless Mothers who are there for the long journey.

God bless Mothers who have big hearts.

God bless Mothers who have taught us the foundational values of life.

God bless Mothers who understand and hear the messages unspoken.

God bless Mothers who do a thousand things, maybe unnoticed but are vital for every-day happiness and security.

MOTHER'S DAY BREAKFAST

This morning we had a wonderful community breakfast to celebrate our mums. We loved that so many of you were able to join us. Scrumptious food, tea, coffee, amazing service, music and great company-we could not have asked for anything more. Wait, we also had an impromptu Nutbush dance by the children.

Special thanks go to our dads for your preparation of breakfast and the 5-star service that followed. Nothing but praise was received for our chef Paul (our groundsman). The morning had a real village community feel about it and showed the great things we can achieve together for the love of our mums.

MOTHER'S DAY MASS

We completed our Mother's Day celebrations this morning with a beautiful Mass led by the Stage 2 children. We loved that so many mums and some dads were able to join us. Thank you to Fr Peter for celebrating the Mass.

The readings, the prayers, choice of songs and liturgical movements by the children in Stage 2 made the Mass a very special experience for all who were present. THEY ABSOLUTELY SHONE.

KINDERGARTEN 2024 ENROLMENT

As we move quickly through 2023, it is time already to begin kindergarten enrolments for 2024.

This year we will be holding our Kindergarten Information Night on Wednesday 14 June 2023. If you have children ready to begin school next year, or if you know of anyone who may be interested in enrolling in Kindergarten (or any other year) in 2024, the Information Evening will be held on Wednesday 14 June at 6 pm.

Please spread the word, we look forward to growing our beautiful school.

GOSPEL REFLECTION: 6th Sunday of EASTER

John 14:15-21 -Jesus promises his disciples that he will send them another advocate, the Spirit of truth.

In this week’s Gospel, Jesus promises his disciples that even though he will leave them, he will not abandon them. Instead, they will receive a great gift, a helper who will reveal to them the great love that exists between the Father and the Son and the disciples. Jesus has also given us the gift of the Holy Spirit, whom we received in Baptism. If we call upon the Holy Spirit, he will help us understand God’s love for us and will help us follow Jesus. Jesus promised the disciples that, even though he was leaving them for a time, they will be able to do great things. This term we have students preparing to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation. We pray that their preparation time is filled with many blessings for them and their families.

FUN FACT JEOPARDY QUIZ

This year as part of our Annual School Improvement Plan:

Improve our students and staff's understanding of the Catholic Values on which our school was built by ensuring they are visible in actions, words and physical symbols

To support our school improvement plan, during Term 2 we will have a Spirit of Jesus Fun Fact Jeopardy Quiz for all students.

Students will be organised into their Spirit of Jesus teams and answer questions about our history and traditions.

Each week our Vice Captains Beau Jubber and Charlotte Robinson share at the Monday morning assembly questions that will be asked during the quiz

Answer: They rode on horseback, travelled in coaches and journeyed by boat

SPIRIT OF JESUS AWARD

At St Joseph's we encourage our students to look for the goodness in others. Our school Vice Captains-Mission this year Charlotte Robinson and Beau Jubber have been given the responsibility of helping to acknowledge students who demonstrate the attitudes and gospel values that show the Spirit of Jesus.

If we have the spirit of Jesus in our hearts, then we are kind, compassionate, welcoming, cheerful, friendly, encouraging, giving, forgiving thankful, and respectful.

This week the Spirit of Jesus award was presented at the assembly to Brie Marsh.

Sacrament of Confirmation 2023

We believe that the passing on of our Christian faith, values and traditions is a true gift that our parents can share with their children. Parents of students preparing for the Celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation are invited to Confirmation preparation family meetings. The meetings will be held after school for approximately 45 mins.

Confirmation Preparation Family Meeting Dates are as follows:

Session 1: Monday 29th May at 3:15 pm

Session 2:Monday 5th June at 3:15 pm

Session 3: To be advised

Session 4: Monday 19th June at 3:15 pm
