    Principals Message

    Dear Families,

Our school will join with more than 620 Catholic schools across NSW and the ACT to celebrate the annual Catholic Schools Week next week. This will take place at St Joseph's from Monday 29 May 2023 through to 2 June 2023.

This year’s theme “Living our Mission’’ highlights the mission of Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lismore. The Catholic school community has a co-responsibility in the service of mission through sharing Jesus’ messages of love and forgiveness, peace, hope and joy as revealed in the Gospels. The transforming power of mission ensures our students experience the fullness of life (John 10:10).

We are immensely proud of the important role the Catholic school has alongside our Bishop, Parish Priest, school staff, parishioners and families in the missionary activity of bringing the ‘Good News' to the world. This week provides us with the opportunity to showcase and celebrate the missionary activities of our Catholic schools as well as the quality education we offer.

I would like to extend an invitation for you to participate with members of our parish and the wider community in the spirit of this celebration. Below is a schedule of events for the week.

Thank you for your ongoing support. I look forward to seeing you during our celebrations for Catholic Schools Week in 2023. Our main day of celebration for the week will happen on Friday 2 June 2023 with Mass,  open classrooms and the opportunity to BYO lunch with the children.  The option to order pies or sausage rolls for yourselves is available. You just need to have the order in by Thursday.

WE HOPE YOU CAN JOIN US!

GOSPEL REFLECTION:  The Feast of Pentecost

      Pentecost.PNG

      Gospel Reading: John 20:19-23

Jesus appears to his disciples and gives them the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus gave the disciples the gift of the Holy Spirit to help them spread his message of peace and forgiveness. We can pray to the Holy Spirit during tough times to help and guide us so that we make just decisions.  Also as Christians, we are called to be peacemakers. We should remember that we can be peacemakers by caring for relationships and showing love and forgiveness when needed.

      FUN FACT JEOPARDY QUIZ

This year as part of our Annual School Improvement Plan:
Improve our students and staff's understanding of the Catholic Values on which our school was built by ensuring they are visible in actions, words and physical symbols
To support our school improvement plan, during Term 2 we will have a Spirit of Jesus Fun Fact Jeopardy Quiz for all students.
Students will be organised into their Spirit of Jesus teams and answer questions about our history and traditions.
Each week our Vice Captains Beau Jubber and Charlotte Robinson share at the Monday morning assembly questions that will be asked during the quiz.

      SPIRIT OF JESUS AWARD

At St Joseph's we encourage our students to look for the goodness in others. Our school Vice Captains-Mission this year Charlotte Robinson and Beau Jubber have been given the responsibility of helping to acknowledge students who demonstrate the attitudes and gospel values that show the Spirit of Jesus.

If we have the spirit of Jesus in our hearts, then we are kind, compassionate, welcoming, cheerful, friendly, encouraging, giving, forgiving thankful, and respectful. This week the Spirit of Jesus Award was presented at the assembly to Sunni Reese.
