Week 10 Term 1 2024
Dear Families,
HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!
Here we are near the end of Term 1 already, next Thursday will be the last day of school for students. Looking back I wonder where this first term has gone, especially as I look at our Kindergarten children who have been at school for such a short time and yet are now so much a part of our school family. We have celebrated much growth and achievement this term, both in and outside of the classroom, in a climate where each person is respected and valued for their contribution, no matter how small or large!
Therefore as we come to the end of the first term we look back with gratitude on all that has been over the past 10 weeks.
HOLY WEEK
Last week as a school, we followed in the steps of Jesus through the events of Holy Week. It was a reflective and prayerful representation of the events leading to the death of Jesus through drama, song and prayer. We thank Kinder, Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 and the staff for taking us on the remembering journey by bringing the events to life for us. Thank you to the parents and grandparents who were able to journey with us.
CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK 2024
INNOVATION AND FAITH
Our school will join more than 45 schools across the Lismore Diocese to celebrate Catholic Education Week (CEW). This will take place in Week 11, Term 1 from April 8-12.
This year’s theme is “Innovation and Faith’. The transforming power of innovation and faith working in unison to ensure our students experience the fullness of life (John 10:10).
For many of the great innovators throughout history, their faith motivated them to explore and understand the wonders of the universe. Our Catholic schools walk alongside clergy, parishioners and families to prepare and nurture our future innovators and faith leaders on their journey.
I would like to extend a warm invitation for you to participate in our Catholic Education Week events and faith celebrations. Please take the opportunity with members of our parish and wider community, to experience innovation and faith in our Catholic school.
Below is a schedule of events for the week that you are invited to attend:

SUNDAY GOSPEL REFLECTION - 2nd Sunday of Easter
Gospel Reading - John 20:19-31
Thomas believes because he sees Jesus.
Like Thomas, we may doubt the news that Jesus, who was crucified and buried, appeared to his disciples. Jesus knew human beings well. He knew that we would have arguments. But he gave us the remedy for hurt feelings in the gift of reconciliation. Learning to resolve conflicts is an important skill for getting along with others. Jesus has also given us the power to be people who forgive and reconcile with one another. Whenever we act to bring peace and resolution, we are acting in the spirit of Jesus.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
Thank you for the warm welcome I have received this week as I begin my role as Acting Assistant Principal.
A little bit about me; I live in Lennox Head with my husband and our six-year-old staffy (our fur baby!). I enjoy spending time with friends and family, travelling, reading and teaching.
I am very lucky to be a part of this school community and excited to work with students, staff and parents to create a learning environment where all students feel welcomed, are happy and succeed. It has been wonderful to get into classrooms and out on the playground over the past 2 weeks to meet the students and observe the amazing community that is St Joseph's.
St Joseph's will hold our school cross country at Stan Payne Oval on (see details below). All students will be walking to and from the oval.
Distances for the Cross Country are:
3000 metres (3 kilometres for 11, 12 and 13-year-old boys and girls
