WEEK 2 Term 2 2025
Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term 2.
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Felicity Wilde, and I am in the Acting Principal role for the term while Jeanette is away. Jeanette is taking part in a pilgrimage on the Camino trail, and I can't wait to hear all about her experience on her return. I know she will be missed by families and children.
I am very excited to be back at St Joeys, after being the Assistant Principal here from 2016-2020.
I have worked in education for almost 30 years, and my permanent role is the Assistant Principal, Learning and Teaching, at St Mary's Primary in Casino. In my regular position, I work with over 600 students, so I am over the moon to be back in a small school where I feel I can truly get to know each and every student in the short time I am here.
I believe passionately in equal education for all students and ensuring we empower our kids to have high expectations of themselves in all that they do. High expectations in learning and high expectations in love; love of themselves, love of each other and love of their world.
I am working hard to get to know all of your children and am already so impressed by the calibre of teaching and learning that is happening here at St Joseph's.
I believe in an open door policy when working with families, as a strong education can only happen we we work together as a team. I therefore welcome phone calls, meetings or emails to discuss anything that is happening with your child and any area we can work together to support them achieving their high expectations.
I can be reached at felicity.wilde@lism.catholic.edu.au, or give the school a call and we can make an appointment.
I am looking forward to getting to know all the students and families across the remainder of the term.
THANK YOU CANTEEN VOLUNTEERS
Thank you so much to all those who volunteered to help out in the canteen this term; without you dedicating your time, we would be unable to offer this service to the children. A roster has been put together for the term and shared with everyone who filled in the Google Form.
If you are happy to be put on a backup list for times someone is unable to fulfil the roster, please email Gayl and let her know. wdbp@lism.catholic.edu.au
PROHIBITED WEAPONS IN SCHOOLS
Our school is committed to maintaining a safe, happy and supportive environment for every child. Now and then, it’s helpful to revisit what can and can’t be brought to school.
While some items might seem like harmless toys or everyday tools, they may in fact be considered dangerous or prohibited. We want to help families avoid any unintentional mistakes or avoidable situations.
A prohibited weapon includes, but is not limited to, knives or blades, toy guns, gel blasters, slingshots, darts or anything else that can be used as a weapon to intimidate or cause serious injury or harm.
We encourage all parents and carers to have open and ongoing conversations with their child about safety, respect, and care for others.
As members of our Catholic school community, we are called to protect and nurture one another, both spiritually and physically. Your support in reinforcing these values at home helps us maintain a secure and faith-filled environment for all members of our school community. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting the safety and well-being of all children.
SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated on Wednesday, the 11th June. All students who have been baptised into the Catholic faith are invited to take part in this sacrament.
The Confirmation students will complete a special program at school with Mrs Wilde stepping them through the learning around their Confirmation journey, and this will culminate in a family evening on Monday 2nd June at 6 pm, where the students will share their learning with their families and Mrs Wilde will run the parents through the processes involved. .
If you would like your child to be Confirmed, please let me know felicity.wilde@lism.catholic.edu.au

Tell Them From Me
As of Monday 12 May, we’ll be inviting students, staff, and families to share their thoughts about our school through an important online survey. Your feedback plays a key role in shaping our future planning and ongoing school improvement.
We’re encouraging all parents and carers to take part in the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. Your perspectives are highly valued and help strengthen the partnership between home and school, with the goal of enhancing student learning and wellbeing at St Joseph's Woodburn.
The survey is completely anonymous and takes around 20 minutes to complete. It can be accessed via computer or mobile device using the link that will be shared on Compass on Monday 12 May.
Thank you to all the Mums who were able to join us for our Mother's Day Breakfast. It was so wonderful to see our families together at school; it is clear that the kids absolutely love being able to share this time with you.
A huge thank you to the Dads who gave up their time to cook and serve our amazing mother figures.

Happy Mother's Day to all our amazing mums! We are so very blessed to have each and every one of you as a part of our school community. We wish you a day of love, pampering, and hopefully a little bit of rest.
