Week 9 Term 1 - 2022
Dear Families
As I start to write a message for this week's Newsletter, I am acutely aware that yet again many in our community are being hit by rising floodwaters. The challenges and accompanying anxiety being experienced by many of our families and the community are constant. I wish more than ever that we were able to help and alleviate some of their hurt. For all of our families and the community impacted, please know that we are feeling nothing but compassion for all that you are going through. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU! Reach out if there is anything that we can do to help.
Yesterday as I was talking to a friend and colleague, she mentioned to me that she had spoken to her community about things that she 'can't wait for'. That phrase struck a chord with me and I began to feel the hope that we can take from all that is happening, to enable us to move forward. So I began to compile an 'I can't wait' list
This is just the beginning...
- I can't wait for our families to feel safe and secure again.
- I can't wait for our families and the community to be able to begin rebuilding their lives.
- I can't wait for our families to be happily living in their own homes.
- I can't wait for Term 2 and all the joy that it will bring.
- I can't wait for us to gather again as a community in good times and love.
- I can't wait to witness the incredible learning that will continue to happen.
- I can't wait for Catholic Schools Week to celebrate who we are.
- I can't wait for us as the St Joseph's Community to continue to grow in truth and love and be here for each other whatever the future holds
- I just can't wait!
Even though we 'can't wait' for the many things listed above and more, we continue to be ever appreciative of all that we already have.
We started and ended this week with terrific positive events brought about by the love and care of many people,
Last Tuesday we were lucky enough to have the Defence Force visit us. Despite the rain and the unfortunate necessity to cancel the family barbeque and Band, we had a terrific morning. The soldiers arrived and took us for exciting rides in their PMVs (Protected mobility vehicles) and answered the myriad of questions asked. The rides were followed by some inside games with the soldiers. They also provided us with snack food boxes and cakes from Darius in Woodburn. Before leaving us, our School and Vice Captains Lorena,Caleb and Kimberly thanked the soldiers for their time, fun, involvement and gifts. Our Sports Captains Jasmine and Jed thanked the soldiers for their incredibly generous gifts of netball bibs, Oztag equipment, football, soccer balls, and goal nets. It is certainly a day that we will long remember.
Friday has become an extremely favourite day of the week at our school of late, mainly because it is currently known as Pie Day Friday and the children absolutely LOVE their pies!
However this week on Friday, thanks to Mrs Jan Seymour they also got to enjoy the art of Tie Dye.
Added to that excitement and new learning, Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 got to enjoy some Ipad activities with their buddies and the Stage 3 students.
WEEK 10 WRAPS UP TERM 1 FOR US
Next week completes Term 1 for us.
- We will continue to have meals provided this week and at least Week 1 of Term 2.
- We are happy to start serving toast for breakfast from 8.30 am each morning if this helps in any way.
- Stage 2 will have a NORPA visit on Wednesday 6 Apriil 9am-11am
- Friday 8 April, we are hoping to do a 'Holy Week' Journey within the school grounds with the students.
THANK YOU
We continue to receive many emails, phone calls and people coming to the school to offer support in any way they can. We thank you for your gifts, donations and messages of support. We will ensure that they reach our students and families.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
Our school will join with more than 620 Catholic schools across NSW and the ACT to celebrate the annual Catholic Schools Week (CSW). This will take place in the Diocese of Lismore from May 2 - 6.
This year’s theme “Community, Care, Compassion’’ echoes the broader mission of Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lismore, to provide opportunities for all of our students to experience life to the full as caring and compassionate school communities. It is particularly pertinent at this challenging time for our diocese and the world.
We are immensely proud of the role we play alongside our parish in maintaining the rich heritage that is Catholic Education in our community. This week provides us with the opportunity to showcase and celebrate the quality education we offer to the diverse range of students in our school.
I would like to extend an invitation for you to participate with members of our parish and the wider community in the spirit of this celebration. A schedule of events for the week that you are invited to attend will be listed next week.
IN WEEK 9 OF TERM WE ARE TRULY GRATEFUL FOR:
