Week 10 Term 1 - 2022
Dear Families
Today brings Term 1 to a close for us.
Very early after the floods, I received a card from my auntie who is a Dominican Sister. She advised me to 'hand over the physical work and worry to St Joseph, the expert carpenter'. I am grateful that St Joseph continues to stand by us and provide our community with the courage and strength to carry on. As I look around our current site, I can't believe what has been achieved and grown in such a very short time. The St Joseph's spirit truly is alive and evident.
We owe many thank yous to so many people, schools and organisations and the list continues to grow. The kindness and support offered and given to our families, students and staff have been overwhelming. I am attaching our beginning thank you video, to acknowledge at least the people who have helped so far, with their time, skills, support, donations, resources, listening ears and friendship. THANK YOU, WE ARE EXTREMELY TOUCHED AND APPRECIATIVE
ST JOSEPH'S HOLY WEEK AND EASTER JOURNEY
As always, we finished Term 1 by remembering and acknowledging the journey of Jesus through the most important week of the Liturgical year - Holy Week and Easter!
As a different way of acknowledging these holiest of times this year,
- we journeyed through Palm Sunday recreating a path of palms fit for a King through our playground,
- we celebrated the Last supper together during fruit break, talking with our friends and remembering and wondering about the special events that happened on that Thursday night.
- We made our way to the Garden of Gethsemane and wrote a prayer of petition asking for God's Strength for us for something that is happening in our world. and,
- as we moved to acknowledge the sadness, hurt and loss of Jesus during the Crucifixion, we remembered that the Catholic Church teaches that Jesus’ crucifixion was the ultimate act of love. The cross remains this symbol for us always. Every time we see a cross or make the sign of the cross we remember that we are loved by God and by our families and community.
- Finally and most importantly we celebrated the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday. The joy of new life and renewal of our Baptismal promises that ask us to:
- Look for the good in people and all that we do
- In following God look after all of creation (look after our natural and built environments)
- Look towards those who came before us and our families and communities as guides for good.
- Know that we can always be the “best we can be”

Anzac Day this year falls on this Monday 25 April 2022. The first Monday following the end of the holidays
St Joseph’s has always been extremely well represented and I hope that will be the case again this year. I ask that you give careful consideration to your child’s participation in this very special celebration and I urge as many students as possible to represent St Joseph’s in these community events.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
Our school will join with more than 620 Catholic schools across NSW and the ACT to celebrate the annual Catholic Schools Week (CSW). This will take place in the Diocese of Lismore from May 2 - 6.
This year’s theme “Community, Care, Compassion’’ echoes the broader mission of Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lismore, to provide opportunities for all of our students to experience life to the full as caring and compassionate school communities. It is particularly pertinent at this challenging time for our diocese and the world.
We are immensely proud of the role we play alongside our parish in maintaining the rich heritage that is Catholic Education in our community. This week provides us with the opportunity to showcase and celebrate the quality education we offer to the diverse range of students in our school.
I would like to extend an invitation for you to participate with members of our parish and the wider community in the spirit of this celebration. A schedule of events for the week that you are invited to attend will be listed in Week 1 Term 2.
IN WEEK 10 OF TERM WE ARE TRULY GRATEFUL FOR:
OUR COMMUNITY
St Joseph!
All that Jesus did for us while on earth and continues to do for us every day.
