Week 3 Term 2 - 2022
Dear Families
As we come to the close of Week 3 already- I feel that this is going to be a very fast term despite everything that is going on around us.
This week as I spent time with the children and staff and witnessed the many happenings on our current site, I began to feel a real sense of pride and excitement about where we have come from (our journey so far) and the amazing opportunities that lie ahead:

KINDERGARTEN 2023
As we move quickly through 2022, it is time already to begin kindergarten enrolments for 2023.
We will be holding our Kindy Information Night on Tuesday 21 June 2022. If you have children ready to begin school next year, or if you know of anyone who may be interested in enrolling in Kindergarten (or any other year) in 2023, the Information Evening will be held on Tuesday 21 June at 6 pm.
IN WEEK 3 OF TERM 2 WE ARE TRULY GRATEFUL FOR:

- Our community and colleague schools who continue to offer support and donations.
- The Incitarie Retreat- Lorena, Clancy and Miles who represented us.
- The food and water that have continued to be provided for our students.
- All that has been and will continue to be in our School site.

Year C - 5th Sunday of Easter: Gospel Reading: John 31-35
Jesus gives his disciples a new commandment: love one another
Jesus didn't just tell us how to love, he showed us. The Gospel this week tells us that before Jesus died, he told his friends to love one another the way he had shown them how to love. He had just washed his disciples' feet at the Last Supper. When we follow Jesus' example and words, we are his disciples and are able to help make a different, more loving world.
We all need each other. We are on big family. It is about working together.Everyone belongs to one human family, regardless of their national, religious, ethnic, economic, political and ideological differences. Everyone has an obligation to promote the rights and development of all peoples across communities, nations, and the world, irrespective of national boundaries.
At St Joseph’s students learn about the ways we are globally connected, they explore Jesus’ commitment to service and justice and investigate leadership lessons from Scripture demonstrating ways of acting justly. Current issues such as climate change and the protection of natural habitats may be discussed from a global perspective. Our students are further supported in their understanding of leadership awareness by our Student Representative Council (SRC) initiatives. We should always try to think about what is good for everyone, not just ourselves. It is about living together in a community.

Student Discipleship - Incitare 2022
It was with great pleasure that I accompanied Lorena Swanson, Clancy Newman and Miles Parkinson to the Lismore Diocese Student Discipleship Incitare Retreat. They enthusiastically participated in faith nurturing activities led by student ministry leaders from Woodlawn College. Our students embraced the opportunities to share their faith, discuss what it means to be courageous, engage in leadership activities, interact with students from nearby Catholic Schools and participate in a beautiful liturgy. It was also wonderful to see Chelsea Campbell and Natasha Wotherspoon past students of our school in their roles as Youth Ministry Officer and student ministry leader.
Zone Cross Country
What a run we have had with Cross Country! The rescheduled Zone Cross Country will be run on Wednesday, 18th May at Hepburn Park, Goonellabah. A Compass push has been sent to all Year 2- Year 6 parents with the relevant information. Thank you for your understanding with the organisation of this event.
Winter Sports Trials
Last Friday, Jed Duignan competed at Diocesan trials for Rugby Union in Grafton. Jed was selected to represent the Lismore Diocesan team at Forbes later in the year. Congratulations Jed!
Polding Hockey Trials
Congratulations to Miles Parkinson (Goalkeeper) on his effort and sportsmanship at the Polding selection trial in Bathurst. Miles displayed some wonderful skill and put his body on the line to save many goals. Well done!
