    Principals Message

    Dear Families

As this will be our last Newsletter for this term I would like to thank everyone who has supported our school throughout Term 2. It has been a busy term with several celebrations and events.

Thank you to the staff for your support to ensure that everything runs smoothly, and for giving your best at all times for our students learning and wellbeing.
Special thanks to the children, who are the life and spirit of our school - their interest, enthusiasm, co-operation and happy manner make this school a joy, and welcoming place to be each day.
Finally to you, our parents, we thank you for your ongoing support and assistance. We couldn't do it without you walking beside us.

    ICAS TESTS

The 2021 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) will be held again this year at St Joseph's for students Year 2 - 6 in  English, Mathematics, Science, Digital Technologies, Writing and Spelling.  Information relating to these will be forwarded to parents via Compass.

    CORRECT SCHOOL UNIFORM

IMG_0599_1_.JPGLast Wednesday on School Photo Day it became obvious that we had a few different varieties of our school uniform. There were different coloured joggers, boots, a variety of earrings, nail polish, undershirts, different coloured tracksuit pants and incorrect socks.

It came as a timely reminder to let parents know that our correct uniform is listed on the School Website in the parent handbook. All students are expected to have the correct full school uniform and to take pride in it. The uniform is a symbol of the school and what we stand for. When worn correctly it will help students identify with the school and develop a sense of pride in themselves and the school. Parents are requested to support the school’s expectations in this matter. The attached photo displays examples of the correct uniform.

    KINDERGARTEN 2022 INTERVIEWS

A reminder to our current families who would like to enrol siblings for next year, we are enrolling students now. You can enrol online on our  School website or collect your enrolment pack from the office. Please let us know if you would like one sent home.  I am hoping to commence enrolment interviews in the first few weeks of Term 3.
Please make sure that you spread the word to friends and relatives who are looking to start their child in Kindergarten in 2022.

    CURRENT COVID GUIDELINES

    • Students and staff with even mild symptoms of COVID 19 are not to attend school. Parents of symptomatic children should provide evidence of a negative result prior to returning to school. In circumstances where children have other medical reasons for recurrent symptoms, a letter from the GP is sufficient to negate the requirement for a negative test.
    • We will continue our regular COVID safe practices of student's hand sanitising on entry to the classrooms and after mealtimes and during the day.

IN THIS LAST WEEK OF TERM 2 WE ARE TRULY GRATEFUL FOR:

    • Our students for their achievements and effort in Semester 1.
    • For all that Semester 1 has held and taught us.
    • Our parents who volunteer in Canteen- we love Monday and Wednesday's
    • HOLIDAYS!

Have a wonderful weekend and holiday break! Stay safe and well.

SUNDAY GOSPEL REFLECTION The 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Gospel Reading: Mark 5: 21-4  Jesus heals an unwell woman and raises Jairus’s daughter from death.

      woman_heal.PNG

This week’s Gospel shares two stories of healing. One story tells us about a father’s great love for his dying daughter. The other story tells us about a desperate woman who risks much as she seeks lasting healing from Jesus. In each story, the request for healing is itself a courageous act of faith.

Sometimes our faith leads us to seek out Jesus in times of need, when we do this we are affirming Jesus as God’s Son. We may like to pray, and ponder upon what, and who nourishes our faith

      MAKING JESUS REAL - (MJR)

At St Joseph’s Woodburn we encourage our students to “Make Jesus Real’” by the way they act in our school community and while at home and out in the community

MJR at St Joseph’s Woodburn encourages our students to be WEST people - that is WELCOMING, ENCOURAGING, SAY SORRY when needed and be THANKFUL.
